Kate Gibson has a hard working life. From 8:30am to 2:31pm she goes to school. Then from 2:31pm to 5:00pm she goes to cheer practice and on top of that, she still makes it to Kung Fu training, sash and all, starting around 5pm. With this busy of a life, I often wondered how my friend could do and ace through it all. So I asked her a couple questions that I myself have been wondering:
Q: It’s your first year doing sideline cheerleading, how do you feel about it?
A: It’s a lot of fun; stunting is very hard but I like the dances and going to the games.
Q: What made you want to do this sport?
A: I like watching the rallies, honestly, and thought it looked so cool; so I was like, “Why not try out and see.”
Q: What is your favorite part about cheerleading?
A: When I learn how to do a new stunt.
Q: You also do Kung Fu; what rank are you?
A: I just passed my test for my third degree black sash about a month ago and I get promoted officially in Spring.
Q: How long have you been doing Kung Fu?
A: I joined my academy in 2014 but started learning basic stuff a bit before that.
Q: What is your favorite part about Kung Fu?
A: My favorite part is the late night training, hanging out with my Kung Fu family, and teaching the little kids; it’s frustrating but rewarding.
Q: How do you balance these two sports as well as school work?
A: By being so naturally gifted and smart. Just kidding, it’s hard work but I guess I just got used to it, you know?
Q: Would you recommend other people doing two sports at once? Why?
A: If you are aware that it’s a lot of hard work, I totally would. It’s fun to branch out and try new things.
