On November 14, the Alhambra Girls’ Flag Football team competed against Cal High for the NCS Semi-Finals. The girls held off the Bears and won the game, 19-18. Later that night they went on to compete against the winner of Heritage vs. Alameda for the NCS Finals. We had less than one minute on the clock and the score was 20-14, with Alameda in the lead. At the last 35 seconds of the game our MVP number 15, Julissa Islas, snatches an almost dropped ball, intended for Abril Gutierrez, and runs it across the field into the end zone! We end the game with the score at 20-20. After we go into overtime, and on the fourth down, the Hornets make a catch and win. Overall we couldn’t be more proud of how far the girls have come in only their 2nd year playing flag football.
