Eva Brown, a determined 10th grader at her high school, has already made a name for herself in the world of track and field. Recently, she broke the school’s Frosh/Soph record, with her new time of 12.59 seconds. This milestone reflects not just her natural talent but also her unwavering dedication.
Eva’s journey began in childhood. “I used to run a lot as a kid,” she recalls. “And I realized I wasn’t that slow, so I started to run track in 7th grade.” That early realization sparked a passion that would carry her through years of hard work and training.
To get where she is now, Eva has committed herself to a consistent training routine. She trains at Diablo Valley College with Coach Scott, focusing heavily on max velocity drills. “We do a lot of speed work,” she says. “It’s all about getting faster and stronger every day.”
But the road hasn’t been without setbacks. Injuries have tested her both physically and mentally, threatening to slow her down at critical moments. Still, Eva stays motivated through tough practices and competitions, drawing strength from the people closest to her. “My mom inspires me to always try my best,” she says. “She and Coach Scott have been my biggest supporters.”
Holding the school record now brings a quiet pride. “It feels nice,” she says with a humble smile. It’s a simple statement that carries the weight of countless hours of sweat and persistence.
Looking ahead, Eva aims to continue growing. “My goal is to reach somewhere in the 11s for the 100,” she shares. For her, the finish line is never the end—it’s just the next starting point.
